COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

There is no other place in Hawaii that shares the vision and spirit of Aloha that Waimea Plantation Cottages feels and lives each and everyday to support our island home, especially, the Town of Waimea.   Our Board of Directors, the Faye family, are pioneers of this area and continue to provide affordable housing for the workers that supported them during the days of their sugar plantation era.   They have freely given land to develop parks, Tech Centers to boast economic development, supported the development of our local schools, hospital, library and businesses.  The family is still one of the largest land owners in Waimea, and continues to support the growth of our cottages to generate more visitors, thereby strengthening the economic development of our Town and community as a whole.

The resort supports Child and Family Services efforts through the Nana’s House organization in Waimea, Rodeo associations, sports leagues from the various schools on the West side, art exhibits, festivals, the Hotel Charity Walk, and more. Our most important mission is to provide a meeting place for our west side Rotary Club, Town Celebration meetings, West Kauai business meetings, and other Corporate partners such as Syngenta and PMRF to hold their staff gatherings.

We pride ourselves in support of our Kupuna Program of Alu Like by hosting the Seniors of the West side as their gathering place every week to display arts and crafts for our guests, enjoy a lunch with each other, and to sing and play music.  Our offering to this program in excess of $50,000 a year of in kind contribution is our way of saying “Mahalo” for all they have done to build the foundation of our island heritage.

Our Resort is the place for Canoe Races to come on shore and share the culture of this sport with the various clubs on the island.  We work with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Make A Wish foundation, Kauai Museum, Kauai Community College, Waimea High School, St. Teresa’s School, Hawaiian Clubs, the list is endless of our outpouring of Aloha to our aina.

In 2006, Waimea Plantation Cottages staff, and the Board of Directors, supported the efforts of the community in achieving National recognition as a historical site.

Simply, Waimea Plantation Cottages loves Kauai. We treasure, in particular, all that makes the West Side the place we call home, and are committed to its’ journey for future growth as a place for family and guests to find peace and a sense of harmony with all that is good about Hawaii.
